The Art of Appreciation
In 2011 I did a 21-day gratitude challenge that literally changed my life. It made my difficult days easier, and it set me on my path to studying and sharing tools from positive psychology and neuroscience.
I especially love teaching this class because not only is gratitude easy to understand and practice, research shows that of all the character strengths, appreciation is the single best predictor of well-being.
In this class we will practice some somatic techniques and then learn simple, science-backed methods for reducing stress and increasing joy through different practices of gratitude.

Preventative Self-Care
Many of us are prone to doing after-care (which follows any stressful period) rather than regular, preventative self-care that keeps us afloat during challenging times.
This class goes beyond the buzzwords and top ten lists. We’ll explore some quick tips that can revive you on the spot and habits that help make self-care sustainable.
We’ll tune into our bodies, dig into a little of the science, and learn simple research-based ways to bring tender self-care to our days.

The Art of Tenderness
Positive psychology isn’t about ALWAYS being positive. That would be both impossible and pointless.
In this class we will talk about times when tenderness is needed: times of grief, of disappointment, and when plans go awry. Focusing on gentleness, compassion, and connection can create a different experience for those hard times.
We will practice some gentle somatic techniques and look at research-backed tools for bringing tenderness to our toughest times.

Winter Survival: The Gift of Social Connections
Human beings are wired for social connection. And meaningful social connection can look different for each person. Research shows that all social connections — brief or extended, casual or committed, intermittent or regular — have an impact on our well-being.
In this free intro class, you'll learn some simple science-based techniques you can use right away to reduce stress and increase well-being through social connections.
